Garbage Pickups

Bulk Pickup

The City of Groveland and would like to inform you that large residential bulk items will be picked up on your regular garbage pick-up day.  You will be able to discard such items as furniture, mattresses, cardboard boxes, and grills (without gas or propane tanks).  Larger bulk items, such as fences, drywall, wood, carpets, kitchen cabinets, etc. will need to be broken down into three foot sections.  Items should be placed curbside by 6:30 a.m. on your regular garbage day.   Some items will not be accepted for pick up.  These include, but are not limited to, roofing materials, motor vehicle parts, propane tanks, corrosives, fire extinguishers, batteries, oxygen tanks, paint, oil, chemicals, petroleum, asbestos, and other hazardous materials.     Items such as washing machines, clothes dryers, water heaters, conventional and microwave ovens, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, electronic equipment (such as televisions and computers), and other similar domestic items, will be removed as a special pick-up on Wednesdays. You will need to call WSI directly at 323-0824, to make arrangements for pickup of these types of items. Please remove the doors on these items for safety reasons!!!

Garbage Pickup

Curbside garbage pick-up will be collected on your designated day.  A 95-gallon trash can is provided by WSI for each customer free of charge.  If you need an additional can, it can be requested by visiting or calling City Hall at 429-2141, extensions 222.  A fee of $12.50 will be charged for each additional can and this fee will be added to your monthly bill.  Please make sure your can is curbside by 6:30 a.m. on your designated pickup day.


Recycling pick-up is also on your designated day.  Please place your recycling bin curbside along with your WSI can. A recycling bin can be obtained by calling City Hall free of charge.  There is no additional cost for recycling since it is included in your current solid waste removal charges.  Customer will receive 2 recyclable bins. One will be used for paper only and the other for all other recyclable materials. Please remember to rinse all cans, jars and bottles. At this time, cardboard containers such as juice and cereal boxes are not collected for recycling. Items that can be recycled are newspapers and magazines, metal cans, aluminum cans, glass bottles, and plastic bottles. Cardboard boxes can be placed along with the other curbside recyclables. Cardboard boxes must be flattened and cut into 2×3 or smaller sections and placed in the recycle bins or underneath it. Encourage your neighbors to recycle too!

Yard Debris Pickup

Yard debris is also picked up on your designated garbage day.  WSI will collect all grass and leaves that are bagged or placed in receptacles (not WSI cans) and placed curbside every garbage day by 6:30 a.m.  Bags and receptacles should not exceed 50 pounds in weight.  All brush and shrubbery trimmings must be cut in 3-foot lengths, tied in bundles, and they should not exceed 50 pounds.  No tree stumps, dirt or rocks will be collected. Please do not mix yard waste with household trash.

Holiday Pickup

There will be no pick-up on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Pick-up will resume on the following working day or such other day as agreed upon by the City and WSI.  Notifications will be placed on your monthly water bill. Christmas Service:  Cardboard boxes and wrappings can be placed curbside and picked up without restriction except as to weight.  Natural Christmas trees no more than 60 pounds in weight and 6 feet in length will be picked up during the months of December, January and February.
