John Griffin  
City Council
Title: Council Member - District 5

Mr. John Griffin is a native of Groveland, Florida. John and his wife Laverne have 4 children, and 1 grandchild. 

John was first elected to the City Council in 2002. In 2008, he was unanimously appointed, by his fellow council members to hold the seat of vice-mayor and was reappointed in 2009. As a councilman, his focus for our community is on affordable housing and the war on crime. 

Mr. Griffin is actively involved with his church, the Florida League of Cities, the South Lake Historical Society, the Dade Battlefield Society, and the Cattlemen's Association.

Mr. Griffin served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. He has an associates degree from Lake Sumter Community College (now knows as Lake Sumter State College).

Mr. Griffin has been a business owner of A Tamjo Signs in Groveland since 2003.

In his spare time, he enjoys raising cattle, fishing, and participating in Seminole war reenactments.
