Mayor Jim Gearhart
Jim Gearhart was born in Monticello, Iowa but moved to Florida with his family at the age of 5. Shortly after his father passed away in 1968, Jim moved from Tampa, to the area of Groveland, where he attended Davis Elementary and Groveland High School. Noticing an interest in building and developing, Jim began working in construction in 1975. By 1979 his skills and ambition for the job led him to start his own construction business. This offered him many advantages in the field, including allowing him the opportunity to travel and spend 7 years working in Alaska. Not only has Jim completed many residential and commercial projects in the Groveland and Mascotte area he has also completed multi-million dollar residential projects. To name a few he has done are Windermere residences for the President of Disney, Dick & Mary Nunis, and also Vice President of Disney, Ed and Jan Moriarty. In 1986 Jim married his wife, Bonnie. Together they were blessed to have 3 children and 8 grandchildren 6 of which still currently attend Lake County Schools. “Education is just as important to Jim now as it was when our children attended school here. Now Semi-Retired, Jim dedicates his time to family and community. Jim offers diversity as a business owner, a real heart for the community that he has been a part of for over 37 years. In addition, Jim brings seasoned knowledge and experience of the construction industry along with being a Builder, Owner, and Operator of AAA American Storage for over the past 12 years. Jim also adds over four years of being on the City Council to our growing community. Jim would also like to” Thank the Citizens and Business Owners of Groveland for their support.
