Recreational Committee

Welcome to the Recreation Advisory Committee section. We meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM at the Puryear Building located at 243 South Lake Avenue. Residents of Groveland are invited to attend. Our current members are as follows: Chairman – OPEN Vice Chairman – David Badillo Secretary – Trish Highland Member – Roy Pike Member – George Rosario Member – Margie Jones

Mission Statement

To create and maintain recreational opportunities that enrich the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. The Recreation Advisory Committee is a sounding board to provide preliminary direction in decisions regarding use of parks and facilities owned by the City of Groveland.

Vision

  • To provide safe and fun activities for the City of Groveland
  • To provide recreation programs that enhance community involvement
  • To enrich the quality of life for present and future residents

Goals

  1. To begin implementation of the City’s Master Parks Plan
  2. To work in conjunction with the revitalization Committee toward renovation of Veteran’s Park
  3. To hear and act on the community’s ideas and concerns regarding the City’s recreation programs – both existing and future
  4. Develop Cherry Lake Park site
  5. Update and improve Community building applications and rules
  6. Explore ways to make the City’s recreation facilities become economically self supporting
  7. To continue researching and pursuing grants
Current projects forwarded to City Council for consideration:
  1. Master Park Plan – APPROVED
  2. Expansion of J.T. Memorial Park by purchasing property by the baseball field – APPROVED – COMPLETED 2008
  3. Expansion of Lake David Skate Park – APPROVED – COMPLETED 2013
