Groveland is one of the fastest growing cities in Central Florida, strategically located just northwest of Orlando and northeast of Tampa. Founded and incorporated in 1922, Groveland’s assets make it an attractive location for new residential communities, and business ventures, educational and recreational activities. With a burgeoning population of 15,439 and almost 15 square miles of beautiful rolling hills landscape, the rapid but sustainable pace of growth has earned its reputation as "The City with Natural Charm."
Groveland is experiencing complementary development and job growth in its historic downtown, at the crossroads of three major state roads, as well as in the sprawling 1,000-acre Christopher C. Ford Industrial Park just off the Florida Turnpike at US 27 and SR 19 and just miles from I-75 and I-4 corridors. Reasonably priced land, infrastructure, expedited permitting and a responsive business attitude have made Groveland a foremost opportunity area. In recent months Kroger and Ocado announced a $125 million investment in a robotic Groveland home grocery delivery facility.
Recent changes to the City’s land use plan portend strong community development as well as preservation of the lakes, forests and trails that give Groveland its unique character. Community amenities include quality public schools, parks and golf courses. Air travel is accessible from Orlando and Tampa international airports.
Groveland has experienced a steady increase in population, its many single family home communities ranking it the fastest growing city in Lake County. Median household income of $58,273 and median home cost below $200,000 continue to attract families to Groveland, providing a ready workforce. Opportunities for training and education abound through local colleges and universities including Lake-Sumter State College and the University of Central Florida.
Quality of life in and around Groveland remains its primary attraction. It is rated the 5th safest city to live in Florida. Groveland promotes diversity, inclusiveness and civic pride. While never more than minutes from outdoor recreation and nature, residents also have ready access to the major sports, art and entertainment attractions of Orlando or Tampa.
The economic development department welcomes the opportunity to assist in preliminary site plan considerations and other inquiries. The city’s incentives are weighted to support capital investment and job creation. You will find elected officials and city staff open and responsive.
